Incoming:  November 13, 2009

Source:   Kane County Animal Control

Appearance:   Short coat, possibly trimmed, knotts and clumps in tail, dry yellow-ish hair that felt like straw, and red stains on feet and elbows. Gives the impression she may have been an outdoor dog as she also looks for an escape route along fence bottom and doors - seems stressed to be indoors.

Incoming physical condition:   Fly strike on tips of ears, thin but not emaciated, internal parasites and campylobactor. Had tooth extraction during routine dental. Did scratch her cornea while playing at boarded at clinic - treated and healed.

Estimated age:   Shelter est: 6 years, Vet est: 8-9

Temperament:   Very sweet natured, nervous, but not difficult to handle at all.  Kennel staff really enjoyed her, let her play with resident canines,

Training:  Seems to know sit, give paw and does walk extremely nice on leash. Kennels up without a fuss but will bark her objections to being confined. Will quiet down if ignored - leave the room

 Notes:
Samoyeds never cease to amaze me.  This little sweetie settled nicely and quickly into her foster home. Co-existing well with a male Samoyed and an 8 year old girl.  Walks politely on leash, crates up well, and doesn't seem to have any tendency to chew or house soil.  Does like to check out counter tops, tables and refuse containers for edible items when no one is looking.  One quick fix to this would be to keep food items put away and empty the garbage regularly.
